Posted By: The Annotico Report, Italia Mia Network on July 8, 2010 in Annotico Report, Italy - Comments: No Comments »

The Crisis Unit (Unita’ di Crisi) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has recently introduced a new section in the website “Dove siamo nel mondo” (www.dovesiamonelmondo.it).
The website, originally developed for tourists and workers abroad, presents now a registration field (“residenti temporanei”- “temporary residents”) to whom, registered or not at A.I.R.E, spend long periods of time abroad.
This new function, not only allows the traditional registration of a telephone number for emergencies, but also offers the possibility to state the location of one’s house on a Google Map.
The aim is to facilitate the assistance in case of disasters and to help Embassies in verifying the presence of fellow citizens, as fundamental requirement for a prompt emergency intervention.
The service is free of charge and pursuant to privacy law. Information, in fact, is only used in case of emergency and all provided data will automatically be deleted two days after the end of the stay.
Please note that in case of necessity the telephone number of the Embassy of Italy in Washington, DC, active 24/7, is 1 202 612 4400
Crisis Unit telephone number, active 24/7, is 011 39 06 36225
