Mister Mercato ; Daniele Galloppa

untitledDaniele Galloppa has always been touted as one of the up and coming midfielders to soon be making a mark in Serie A. Bruno Conti was one of the first voices heard praising the Roma youth product and was right to do so ; Galloppa, now 24, has played in all Italian National teams throughout his young career. Unfortunately for Roma, Galloppa is making his mark while at Parma.

Bizarrely, Galloppa never played 1st team football with Roma, even if he was regarded as one of the most promising prospects in the organization. Galloppa made the bench once during a Coppa Italia fixture in 2004 and that’s the closest he would ever come to seeing a Serie A pitch with an orange shirt on. He finally ended up fully owned by Siena, who bought him on the cheap over 2 years, after successful loan spells at Triestina and Ascoli.

Galloppa, now playing with Parma, who co-own him with the Tuscan club, has slowly made his way to the Senior National squad, after being called up by Marcello Lippi for the Northern Ireland friendly taking place last June. Galloppa is your classic, old school style, regista. Solid, doesn’t take unecessary risks, can win the ball and follows the attack superbly well while his potent and precise right foot can be lethal from set plays. Galloppa has been doing so well that he’s been attracting the praise of the bigger Italian clubs like Juventus, while Inter’s Jose Mourinho isn’t shy about proclaiming his admiration for Galloppa in the media.

Galloppa’s agent, Davide Torchia, told the media ;

“These reports give him a lot of satisfaction as it says he has worked well at Parma and Siena, in recent years. We can not but be pleased and proud.

“The player is in joint ownership between Parma and Siena, he came to the interest of big clubs with work and sacrifice.”

If Antonio Candreva is Juve worthy then Daniele Galloppa surely has a bright future with a big club lined up…

Roma have been kicking themselves in the ass ever since, especially after not learning from the Gaetano D’Agostino and Giorgio Chiellini\Marco Amelia experiences. Note to Roma : In the future, if any zebra shirted squad offer to fully purchase one of your U21 prospects, think really hard and long about it.
